CAN'T STAY AWAY...

...from Carolines Mode at the moment. It's Streetstyle Crack! Some sort of otherworldly-beauty-vortex must have occurred on the spot where Freja, Abbey & Daria converged. Caroline, in the last photo, is quite the muse herself - those boots are Office? Really?

IT

I am now the doting owner of a brand new Mulberry Alexa. I'm going to have to build up slowly towards putting things in the bag. I'll start with small things; some keys, a brush, gathering momentum with things that could possibly spill such as make-up, deoderant. Who knows, maybe even some day I will actually bring the bag outside. Some day.

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT

One of my daily must-see blogs is Karen Blanchards Where Did You Get That. The girl knows how to dress up grey marl. Everything also looks that little bit cooler on the streets of New York.

I'm a Graphic Designer, so Pantone Swatches make me feel at one with the universe. Every time I see this House of Holland collection, from way back in Fall 2009, my heart skips a beat. Think THAT'S nerdy? Well, when I have a kitchen all of my own to decorate, the table will be surrounded by these Pantone Chairs from Brown Thomas.

BIRD OF PREY

Anna Dello Russo invited Tommy Ton from Jak & Jil over to capture her dressing for the Vogue Paris Masquerade Ball. The theme was Eyes Wide Shut. I dont think anyone has as much fun with fashion as Anna.

ONE WOMANS TRASH IS ANOTHER WOMANS MIAMI VICE

The town I work in seems to be some sort of sartorial anomaly - there is a disproportionately large number of charity shops per square mile AND they keep giving me the good stuff! I have built up quite the collection of garishly patterned 80's polyester suit blouses - the kind your mother wore with a matching skirt. They look great worn as blazers over jeans (ditch the matching skirt!) and some even come with the added bonus of shoulder pads.
The only downside is the static electricity - I could power the national grid!
GET UP & GO

I whiled away my weekend at Offset 2010, a design conference in Dublin, listening to some all-time-greats talk about their work & what inspires them. George Lois, the original Don Draper, told us charming anecdotes about building an advertising empire in the 60s and David Carson gave us the background stories to his innovative Ray Gun magazine covers in the 90s. I also heard a talk from Celestine Cooney, energetic Irish stylist who started off at The Dubliner Magazine, and has gone on to style Dazed & Confused and numerous catwalk shows such as Ashish and Topshop. Celestines body of work blew me away, especially her editorial work. The first spread here is for Dazed & Confused and was based loosely around the theme of Batman.
I just love her interpretation. I loved hearing little secret stories like how she stayed up all night before the shoot to make the hat, crying all the while, because of the stresses of being an assistant stylist! Celestine has created a bi-annual magazine called Twin which is more Art than fashion. Inspiring stuff!
